Leash Training a New Puppy
By: Asar Yousuf Leash Training your Puppy may seem like a mountainous task on the first try. However, knowing what to do can make it another simple-to-perform task. See all you need to know about successfully making your new Puppy comfortable with the leash Choose the suitable harness and leash Before you consider leash training your Puppy, you need to settle for the appropriate collar, harness, or leash. Get a cozy-fitting harness for really young puppies, preferably something not too loose or tight. Afterward, go for a leash that is about four or six feet long and attach it to the Puppy. The harness must be light with a simple, non-cumbersome leash for the Puppy. Then allow the Puppy to play around with the leash. This move will help the Puppy become familiar with the leash. You should practice the leash walk – initially taking short steps within the house. Implementing this step ensures a happy, friendly relationship between your Puppy and you. Your pup may not be willing to put on the harness, and this isn’t strange. While putting the saddle on the Puppy, you could play with it, and give it a toy or special treats to distract it. Introduce your dog to the leash Introduce your dog to the leash at a tender age. Puppies are easier to train at this age. Some dog owners, in error, think they could bypass leash training the Puppy. After all, the Puppy is all good. But as the Puppy grows older, they begin to slowly but surely exhibit bad behaviors. And gradually grow out of control. To avoid that, leash training the Puppy is important. You could teach a cue using a simple, easily understood word or sound like a cluck of the tongue. The purpose is for the Puppy, with the leash on, to walk with you and vice versa. The Puppy already knows its name by this time and is responsive to simple commands such as Sit, Stand, Come, Wait, etc. You can go ahead with this and let the dog follow you for short distances within the house. Each time the Puppy does that, reward it with a treat. You might also discover that some puppies will rather bite on their leash. The solution is the same. Offer treats or toys to wade them off the leash. Leash training the Puppy will make their legs longer, their muscles stronger, and naturally increase their pace. Apply the “heel” factor Simply put, this is making your puppy walk at your heel or beside you. Training your Puppy to be at your heel can be challenging. But it’s a lot easier if the Puppy has been taught some simple commands prior. Start this training at home first with fewer distractions than outside. In getting a dog to be obedient and responsive, you need a lot of patience and consistency. To achieve making your dog walk closely beside your heel, you also need to be able to listen closely. Now, you don’t want your puppy winding or snaking around as you walk. If it does this, stop walking and stand firm. Then you can call the pop with a cue you have already taught it and reward your pup with a tasty treat. Repeat this process until little Puppy gets used to walking beside you. As a matter of fact, choose a side meant for the Puppy to walk and maintain. If it strays, trick the pup back to its own side of the walk for discipline purposes. Never hold the leash with your hand on the side of the dog. If the Puppy is on the right side, secure the leash with your left hand and use the other hand to give treats as you walk on. Each time you take a walk with your Puppy, use the heel factor. You may want to increase the gap between treats to instill good behavior in your Puppy. This is because you don’t want to train your Puppy into believing that it can exhibit bad behavior in order to get treats from you. Fend off Pulling and Lunging Ordinarily, you would expect that after taking the Puppy through the “heel” factor routine, it shouldn’t pull, lounge, or even bark repeatedly at things or people anymore. But puppies being what they are, with a short attention span, get excited by the sight, smell, and sound around them. This calls for you to keep them focused on you. You can give them a tasty treat or their favorite toy or even play with them. And when they come back, get up and go in the opposite direction to ensure they follow you and stop pulling or lunging. Also, you can achieve better control of your Puppy by using a short leash with some tiny bit of slack. Most times, puppies don’t pull or lunge without reason. They may see other dogs like them, strangers, a fascinating sight, or anything at all. Walking in the other direction and waiting until the excitement disappears whenever this happens. You don’t want to harm the dog by yanking off or even yelling. This will destroy the friendship you have built over time. You also don’t want to risk allowing him to think that pulling or lunging is a good attitude, so you may not give him a treat; remind your Puppy of the cues taught previously. If your Puppy pulls or lunges unchecked, and you try to keep pace with it, you’ll be erroneously teaching your pup that it’s OK to pull or lunge. Instead, you can improvise by doing some add-ons like direction, turning around, and giving commands like Sit down and stay, Stop, etc. This will keep the Puppy engaged and heighten the communication between you two. Take it Outside Yes, your Puppy has been schooled on walking on a leash, heeling, managing pulling, barking, lunging, etc. It’s time to explore varied environments other than your yard or court. You can take your dog to

Regardless of how much your puppy adores and loves you, making him walk beside you can be difficult. Good time given to your pup for leash training can give you the perks of being able to walk with your obedient and happy pup that feels like a family member which will be worth your while. How to Leash Train a Puppy – How to walk a puppy Get him used to a collar and leash: Introduce the leash or collar to your pup and make him used to it. Let Your pup drag and pull the leash attached to his collar to make it more familiar to Him. Give him a treat when he approaches the leash. While putting the collar on the pet, reward him with some treats and appreciate his good behavior. If he starts whining and pulling the leash, set him free for the time being and try again some other time. Keep your focus on connecting the leash with treats and walking so he is more attracted to it. Have short training sessions in familiar places: puppies have a short attention span, so don’t expect them keeps their interest in the training for long. Start with a walk around the house or a place where he is familiar. This way he won’t be distracted by the new place and his desire to explore them. Praise good behavior: Healing is a technique you use to train your dog to walk by your side either left or right whichever is suitable for you. When walking alongside your dog heap on the praise and reward him with a Random treat. Stop the walk every time he pulls the leash it may harm the dog or even yourself if the dog is big. So stop when he starts to pull And every time he starts walking along your side, reward him. Eventually, he’ll learn that pulling is taking him nowhere, and walking beside you is yummy. Be patient. If your dog has been pulling on the leash for a while, it’ll take time to get rid of this habit. Never pull your dog along. Make sure to reward him for coming when you call him to keep walking along. If he is persistent, you have to take his attention back to the walk and away from the thing with all distractions. Keep the leash short: the length of the leash is an important point to focus on to keep the pup beside you. This sometimes feels negative to humans but the less space to stray away from your side, the easier it is for him to learn to walk next to you. Keep him at your side: by keeping the leash short still, your pup can move in a direction you don’t want like in front of the back, and tend to sniff and wander around. walking with your pup by your side allows you to control his direction. This will also help to keep the pup from being tangled up with the leash and you. Once he is trained enough you can lend him enough space to let them be. Let him spend time on his own: As for a dog, walks are always a way to relieve themselves. However, sniffing around is a dog’s habit. So call it an “off duty” thing for not ruining the walk for your dog, sometimes keep the leash long enough so that he can sniff around and be happy for doing the things he loves. Notice your pup if he wants to relieve himself, stop walking and increase the leash to explore and do his things. After being done, reward him with praise or treats. Set a pace: Dogs are naturally curious and want to rush to certain attractions on your walk or move in their favorite spots. Firstly it’s important to choose a perfectly comfortable pace for both of you. Keep the pace at which both of you normally can move together. For instance, If you notice that your dog is not being able to keep a certain pace, or is rushing, stop and let him come back to you and then rebuild the comfortable pace. Problems you may face with your pet while training and their solutions 1. Act like a tree. Pulling on the leash is the most common reaction of the puppies to the leash, simple standing like a tree can easily solve it and avoid injuries to the dog and yourself. 2. Let your dog approach other dogs but with their owner’s permission first. Firstly getting permission from the other dog owners can be a relief that their dogs are as friendly as yours. Sometimes the other dogs may have some illness or have been through a recent surgery or may have some kind of trauma that may result in bad interaction. 3. Barking at other dogs. One of the commonest problems faced due to lack of brain stimulation and exercise. Trick training and treat giving with some fetch, running, and swimming along with frequent and longer sessions of exercise can help storm the socializing skills of the dog. 4. Lunging and barking at moving stimuli. The moving wheels of a car or a fast-running animal like a squirrel can trigger the prey in your dog and trigger him to chase after them. This problem can be solved within seconds by diverting the wants of your dog by giving him some tasty treats or commanding the dog to obey you for instance command him to sit or down. Conclusion: After the efforts of training your pup, now get ready for a better human-pup relationship with a bold and confident walk with your puppy.
How to potty train a new puppy – All you need to know

Cuddling with puppies is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world. That feeling of a fulfilled, satisfied, happy and healthy is so adorable that you can’t stop having them. According to my personal experiences, there’s no reason anyone wouldn’t like to have a pet dog instead of home hygiene. Yeah, bro, you are not alone in this issue that they poop anywhere and eat them too. Right? But learning how to train them at the right time is the wisest step you would take if you really wish to have one. If you are also researching that one perfect article or blog, where you get all the necessary information in a short and summarized article, which is reader-friendly, you have landed to the right place. I would not give you knowledge and tips that are already provided on the internet. Instead, today I m going to share my own genuine and tried methods with Vini (my pet) by the time when she was just 12 weeks . It was obvious that she didn’t know any rules and pooped in my room accidentally. Not intentionally, just she wasn’t taught these disciplines and regulations before. I wiped off her feces for the first two days but obviously, it wasn’t possible always. Training needed to be done as soon as possible. How my state of mind works I kept a towel in her place and made her pee and poop there a few times. What the basic nature of Vini was that now whenever she wanted to pee and poop, smelling the pooped towel she got the vibes and she herself start reaching over there and then after did the potty over that towel only then after. This was the very basic nature of my puppy that I caught up with Very easily making them a habit and proper schedule is the very essence that every pet owner must know. Dogs have a very excellent sense of smell, seeing, and hearing. The quicker you convey the idea that there is an approved place to potty that is off-limits, the quicker you’ll be able to put this messy confusion behind you. A good thing is that dogs can hold their bladders depending on their age. Let me tell you a quick rule which is applied to all the dogs within seven months. The months in which the puppy is +1 is the number of hours for which that puppy can hold its bladder. Exciting, isn’t it? You would discover more facts once you have a pet. observe and supervise daily events and set a schedule and monitor them according to your convenience. It’s easy, trust me. All you need is to create a loving and affectionate bond with your pet. With the idea of keeping the pooped towel, I made Vinni’s particular place. This was just a schedule, discipline also needs to be taught that pooping and peeing isn’t allowed in the home. When you come to know the schedule that when doing the puppy poop during the day, take the puppy outside the house at that time. Make sure, you are not going to play with your pet outside, so stand bored ( no talking, no activity nothing ) so that the puppy gets the fact that this is a potty break and not the playtime. Then he will not be diverted because if it happens so, then your pet would not poop that time and when you get back him to the house, he would poop later . Following is the time when you should take your pet for a poop walk – After they wake up Before sleep After eating After exercise and playing NOTE – if accidentally, the puppy potty inside the house, make a hard tone to say NO and then take him outside the house. So that the puppy gets the point that inside pooping is totally restricted and outside pooping is allowed and is praised for him. That was how I trained my vini🤝 spend more time inside the house with your dog and less outside so that he understands that inside his house and then he won’t soil his own house. # set alarms at night according to the bladder holding capacity of the pet so that you don’t get the pee smell early morning. # control the diet of your pet as it may lead them to constipation and there may be blood in their poop after it. Also, even if your puppy is already trained, still keep them in practice as puppies are young and may tend to forget easily. It was all how I maintained Vinni’s hygiene and spent the most relaxing and comfortable moments of my day with her. She is no more with me but making her even a part of my life changed my mindset totally. She made me believe that love really exists today also. Pets make us learn the most important things in life – Friendship, love, loyalty, and affection. My friends, you should definitely have one, they are really pure souls. Hope my experiences helped you out! Frequently asked questions by the pet owners – How long does the puppy potty training take Answer – it depends on the age, your methods, and your care. Generally, it takes about 2-3 months. Should I clean the private area of my pet after pooping and peeing? Answer – yes, maintaining hygiene is a must. Why does my dog eat his own feces? Answer – he may do it when he feels that he needs some kind of vitamin or he might do this when he has “messed up” by pooping in the house and doesn’t want to get scolded for that. The only solution is clean the poop immediately or take your pet away from that place once he has done pooping. Why does my pet urinate and drink a lot suddenly? Answer – your pet may be pregnant or may be suffering from some disease
Kindness to Stray Animals Goes a Long Way

Growing up, we had the most beautiful Border Collie. Her name was Martha. My father had adopted her when she was just a puppy, and she had already lived the better part of her life by the time I was born. Although I was too young to understand the significance of the bond we shared at the time, looking back on the time we spent together and glancing at old photos now and then, I feel fortunate and privileged that she was a part of my early childhood. She taught me kindness, gentleness, and respect for other living beings – habits instilled in me throughout my life. As a result, I cannot help but feel a sense of responsibility toward the creatures in our cities and neighborhoods who are not as fortunate as those who have a home of their own. They deserve the same amount of love and care. Often, in our day-to-day lives, we pay little mind to these creatures wandering about. A bark may capture our attention briefly, and we may even take a few minutes off our busy schedules to interact with them, but we quickly move on and do not give it a second thought. We regard it as routine and unimportant. We humans have a shared responsibility, something we often forget, to look after those stray animals. As aforementioned, I understand that it might initially seem a bit intimidating. Nowadays, people generally have relatively busy lifestyles. Not everyone has hours of their days to dedicate to providing constant care to these animals, let alone adopting, especially since it adds commitment to an already potentially packed schedule. Trust me when I tell you that even the little things that you do, which will take at most a few minutes off your day, make a difference. Therefore, I would like to tell you a few stories about the fun characters I have met while attempting to help my city’s needy and less fortunate creatures. Both my girlfriend and I are volunteers at a non-profit organization in our country that works with stray animals and focuses on trying to find them a home. One day, just as I got back home from work, I got a call from her telling me that she had received a call from a friend of hers that works at a construction site which said to her that while working, they had found a box with two newborn pups in it, who at the time were around one month to a month and a half old at most. They were just left there, and according to the description, they were both in bad shape – shaking, stumbling when trying to walk on their own, crying out for food, and dirty since they had been exposed to harsh weather conditions from the night prior. As she told me all this, I knew I could not just do nothing about it after learning about their state; my consciousness would not let me, for I feared they might not survive much longer. After pondering for a few seconds in silence as to what course of action to take, I told her to do the only reasonable thing that came to mind at the time: bring them home. And as I waited for them to arrive, I proceeded with preparing to provide them with the necessary care. I want to note that protecting yourself and remaining safe when overseeing stray animals is particularly important. Although they are charming, you must consider that they have been homeless, mostly under harsh conditions, and they might have picked up some germs or parasites. So, if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, do not get too eager to bring them up to your face and smother them immediately. When my girlfriend came home with them, we first put on a pair of latex gloves and immediately checked them for ticks. To no surprise, we found a few of them. They were very patient with us as we removed the ticks for them; however, they were not very big fans of the bath afterward. Regardless, they braved through it, and once they were all clean, my girlfriend proceeded to dry them up and keep them company while I prepared their formula. The poor souls must have been starving, considering how quickly and greedily they ate. They were entertaining to watch, and as we admired them peacefully, we came up with their names – Hades and Rengar. The first few days were the most challenging as the puppies were adjusting to their new environment and the routine we were setting for them. However, it was not anything unfamiliar for either one of us since, through our volunteer work, we had already taken care of stray animals before meeting Hades and Rengar. In the absence of a mother, they required a lot of effort. Puppies cannot urinate and defecate on their own when they are young, so they needed our assistance to stimulate them by using a cotton ball moistened with lukewarm water, and we fed them every 4-5 hours. Since most puppies are born with intestinal worms, we also took them to the vet, where we were told they were in a healthy condition and were given their de-wormer pills. We knew from the start that we could not keep them long-term, and we usually would have started looking for a home for them right away, but since we both had a bit more open schedules at the time, we decided to keep them for a while. They stayed with us for a month and a half in total. As the days went by and they were getting accustomed to their surroundings, we noticed their personalities shining through. Although they were both quite mischievous, as most puppies are, Hades was a lot timider and relied on us quite a bit, refusing to remain separated and on his own for very long. In contrast, Rengar

Quality As a pet mom, I’ve gotten dog brushes that broke the same day. I know you can relate to my plights. Some brushes are so flimsy and badly manufactured that a simple fall should shatter them. You don’t want that, especially if you have multiple dogs or your one dog has the energy of five dogs put together. Dog brushes get a lot of use and if you intend to groom every day or maybe your pup’s coat type requires daily grooming, then you need a brush that is durable and pet safe. Make sure you carefully seek out this information before choosing a pet brush for your canine. Size This is an essential factor to consider when choosing the best grooming brushes for dogs. You don’t want to make the mistake of buying a small brush to groom a large dog. It is useless and may even cause discomfort and pain for your furry friend. You want to choose a brush that is appropriately sized and matched the coat type of your dog. If you have a long-haired or curly-haired dog, the size of the brush you use is way different from a dog with a short coat. A lot of pet parents are not aware of this math. It is a good thing that we brought it to your notice, isn’t it? Coat type This is one of the important factors to consider when choosing the best grooming brush for your dog. There are many breeds of dogs and each has a different coat type. The right brush for your dog depends on the type and texture of its coat. For dogs that aren’t as hairy and have short, smooth coats, soft bristle brushes are great. Dogs with medium-to-long length coats require more brushing and the slicker brush or pin brush is best suited for that. Be careful though, slicker brushes are effective at de-matting fur but they can cause pain and discomfort on your pup’s skin when used with too much pressure. Dogs with really thick fur that are double-coated may benefit from a grooming rake or a de-shedding tool. As this has the power to penetrate deeply into the dense fur and remove any dead undercoats lying in its wake, after using a rake, a slicker brush can then be used to finish off the grooming session. Ease of cleaning Your dog’s coat health should be handled with utmost care. This is because of how sensitive their skin is and how quickly they can lose hair when in distress. They are different models of grooming brushes. After grooming a dog, all that fur can get tangled up in the bristles of the brush. Some models have buttons that when pushed, the bristles go in and
Have you ever felt like you just needed a dog?

How can a dog express itself? A pure, wonderful, and sincere soul, who in every situation is by our side, supports us, loves us, appreciates us, is loyal to us, and most importantly, gives us confidence and strength to go through anything. They are angels without wings, and I am about to predict a very profound story, with which I will instantly sensitize you. This is Cleo. At first glance, she seems like a normal puppy, but her story is far from being known. Cleo is a 6-year-old husky who wasn’t lucky enough to be from the first part of a family she wanted. 5 years ago, I went to work in a village at a distance of 23 km from Timisoara, where there was a family with a large number of dogs. Every day, working there, I noticed that these dogs had no water, no food, and no living conditions, they were bound and tormented. One day, when I was going to work, I saw the owners take the puppy, my future love, and throw it over the fence with a chain around its neck. Instantly, I left everything I had and went to save her as soon as I could, trying to call the police to announce what was going on. No one helped me, they said it was just a dog.I tried to release her, but being very scared, she was shaking, and it was a fight until I stabilized the situation. I managed to take it, to comfort it, my soul became so full of emotion that I gave up the working day, and I did everything possible to take care of it. There was no transport to the city, I urgently needed a veterinarian, I wanted her to be consulted as soon as possible, to be checked by ticks, mites, and other parasites, to save her from the ordeal she had lived in. I called the taxi, and explained the situation to them, but no one accepted an animal in the car. Finally, I managed to go to the city, thanks to a lady who told me the most beautiful words: “Animals are the angels of the soul, she chose you, child”. In the lady’s car, Cleo began to cry, in pain, in fear that she would receive the same treatment she had with her old family. But I had already promised myself that she would never feel the beating, the chains, or the days in the rain and the torments. On a more Athens examination, my Cleo was not only tied and unchained, it was beaten, bruized, with the right-back limb broken long ago, poorly welded. At the veterinarian, many other problems were observed. At that moment, I knew that she would be all mine, and I would give her peace and happiness. She had a scar on his abdomen, following a brawl, where her entire nipple chain had broken. She was badly sutured, full of ticks, and parasites, had no microchip, never vaccinated, very scared, and anorexic. After the visit to the VET, Cleo made a gesture that melted my heart. I was sitting in front of the cabinet, worried that I didn’t know where to start, and she put her nose on my chest, and she started to sigh. From that moment on, we are inseparable. I introduced her to her new family, where she would never feel the chain again, or days without food.at home,, I already had a shar-pei, Arcan, with which she became inseparable. They’re best friends, they run together, they play, they sleep together, they eat together, and she feels happy. Her fur has changed, she has grown, she is a happy, big, full of energy husky, whom I love with all my heart. If I could express how much these animals mean to me, it would not last me a lifetime. 3 months after Cleo got to the new family, I was pleasantly surprised to find out at the veterinary check-up that she was pregnant. I had two wonderful puppies, a husky with shar-pei, whom I will love all my life with everything I have. If ever, an opportunity or an abandoned puppy, a mocked puppy, do not ignore it, because they will always give you unconditional love and pure respect. This is my story about Cleo. I, a student of veterinary medicine, wish from my heart to see people choose pure and complex souls around them, who by a simple glance are melted and drawn entirely to their purity. When Cleo raises her blue eyes to me, nothing is around me, only the happiness that I was there at the moment of waiting, and that I chose to give him the best and happiest life. There are infinite possibilities to be happy, to feel appreciated and loved, just a little bit away. I hope we all have the opportunity to feel the love these animals give us, and to revisit a news story that has a happy ending. The family that tormented the puppy and the rest of the animals was visited by the animal police along with me. The moment I told them that they would receive the fine and all the dogs would be taken and given for adoption, they started to argue and threaten to pay me, because this is how the animals are kept closed and taught to be evil. In the end, Cleo is happy and beautiful, and she has forgotten the life she lived 5 years ago, a life I don’t wish for any soul on earth, and I wish I could save them all, give them what they deserve. I hope you will have liked my story, and we hear, of course, other adventures of “life as a student in veterinary medicine”, because it is filled with endless stories and experiences.
