HOW MUCH FOOD SHOULD I FEED MY DOG ?

Are you confused too about what and how much to feed your dog? If yes, then you are definitely at the right place because here, in this article, am going to solve all of your ambiguities related to feeding protocols for dogs of all sizes. Have you ever noticed why there are specifications for feeding your animals? Because just like human beings, nutritional requirements for animals also depend on their height, weight, and level of physical activity, when they are fed without considering their requirements their physical, mental, and even emotional health may be affected adversely. Now let’s continue with this very important topic How much food should I feed my dog which will provide all possible solutions for the problems you are facing. Why does the correct amount of food matters? When you fail to fulfill the nutritional requirements of your fur babies then they may get serious health issues. Nutritional requirements don’t only refer to under nutrition, over-nutrition also can be caused due to irresponsible feeding practices and ultimately it causes obesity which itself is a disease. Malnutrition in dogs may cause: How to find out the correct amount of food? As I already have discussed the right amount of Food for your dog greatly depends on its size, weight, and physical activity. Along with these factors type of food and the number of meals also matter. You can find out caloric requirements in 2 ways, the first one is by taking a look at a feeding guide present on your dog food’s label and the second one is by calculating the calories with the help of a calorie calculator for dogs by putting its current weight along with physical activity but keep it in your mind that your dog’s nutritional requirements may vary 20-25% more or less than according to the calculator. In active or senior activity level 15–30 minutes of exercise each day; or over 7 years old Average activity level 30–60 minutes of exercise each day Active Activity Level 60–120 minutes of exercise each day Whatever way you follow, just always keep in touch with your Veterinarian for making the right decisions for your beloved ones.      What Should Be in Your Dog’s Bowl? To maintain an ideal body weight, your dog needs complete and balanced nutrition to meet the needs associated with his size, age, and lifestyle. For example, a dog having an active lifestyle must get higher calorie and protein levels, while less active dogs may require food that is lower in calories. How much food should I feed my dog according to its size? In general, dogs should be fed at least twice a day. Breed, age, size, and energy level all contribute to assessing how often dogs should eat and how much. Dogs with medical issues or specific dietary needs may require modified diet plans and guidelines on what they eat. Therefore, talk to your veterinarian about your dog’s lifestyle and eating patterns to make sure you’re meeting its nutritional needs. According to me, fresh dog food is always a better option than dry kibble or wet canned food. You should always try to feed them freshly made food at least 2-3 times per week if are unable to feed them daily. Requirements of dogs to fulfill their appetite according to their sizes are categorized below: a) How much should I feed my puppy? Since puppies are in their growing phase, they need more calories than adult dogs. Puppy nutrition is crucial as the quality and longevity of life depend on how that individual was fed when he was a baby and how well or poorly his immune system and body have developed. Puppies must have a specific amount of calcium in their diet, otherwise, they are prone to develop metabolic bone diseases such as arthritis. Puppies need small, frequent meals. For the first few months, they will need small, frequent meals throughout the day as they transition from their mother’s milk to solid food. But when they grow to four months old, they can begin eating about three times per day, and after that, puppies can instantly graduate to twice-a-day feedings. Generally, it is recommended to feed them every 6–8 hours which becomes approximately three to four times per day. It makes it easier for them to digest quickly and also to meet their nutritional requirements, otherwise, they can show signs of low blood sugar levels causing fatigue, weakness, muscle tremors, and even sometimes seizures.  However, sometimes we care a little not much and feed them more than their requirements which causes obesity, so be careful about that pals! Toy-breed puppies typically need 4 to 6 meals per day for the first three months. Medium-breed puppies will need three meals per day, and large-breed puppies need 3 to 4 meals per day. Though the breed is an important consideration because metabolism and energy levels can vary up to 30%. Since puppies need more calories compared to adult dogs due to their activeness but these calories are reduced once they start growing so keep checking their requirements from 3-12 months. b) How much should I feed my adult dog? Don’t let your dog trick you into getting more meals per day compared to its requirements by making adorable puppy dog faces. Most dogs only require two meals per day, but if you find your dog barking and demanding more food then occasionally a healthy treat may be offered. The point to ponder is not to feed your dog more than recommendations. Food labels can be misleading or confusing. Food labels can also over or under-calculate your canine’s requirements so the best way is to first determine its weight and feed accordingly. Adult Dog Size (lbs) Dry Food Feeding Amount (Cups) 3-12 lbs 1/3 to 1 13-20 lbs 1 to 1-1/3 21-35 lbs 1-1/3 to 2 26-50 lbs 2 to 2-2/3 51-75 lbs 2-2/3 to 3-1/3 76-100 lbs 3-1/3 to 4-1/4 100 lbs plus 4-1/4 plus 1/4 cup for each 10 lbs

Want a nice walk with your pup? You are in the right place.

Puppies are naturally exploring and curious by nature and eventually expect an answer from their masters. The answer given in a proper way can train a puppy that will lead to an obedient and tractable Dog. Regardless of how much your puppy adores and loves you, making him walk beside you can be difficult. Good time given to your pup for leash training can give you the perks of being able to walk with your obedient and happy pup that feels like a family member which will be worth your while.  How to Leash Train a Puppy – How to walk a puppy  Get him used to a collar and leash: Introduce the leash or collar to your pup and make him used to it. Let Your pup drag and pull the leash attached to his collar to make it more familiar to Him. Give him a treat when he approaches the leash. While putting the collar on the pet, reward him with some treats and appreciate his good behavior. If he starts whining and pulling the leash, set him free for the time being and try again some other time. Keep your focus on connecting the leash with treats and walking so he is more attracted to it.  Have short training sessions in familiar places: puppies have a short attention span, so don’t expect them keeps their interest in the training for long. Start with a walk around the house or a place where he is familiar. This way he won’t be distracted by the new place and his desire to explore them.  Praise good behavior: Healing is a technique you use to train your dog to walk by your side either left or right whichever is suitable for you. When walking alongside your dog heap on the praise and reward him with a Random treat. Stop the walk every time he pulls the leash it may harm the dog or even yourself if the dog is big. So stop when he starts to pull And every time he starts walking along your side, reward him. Eventually, he’ll learn that pulling is taking him nowhere, and walking beside you is yummy. Be patient. If your dog has been pulling on the leash for a while, it’ll take time to get rid of this habit. Never pull your dog along. Make sure to reward him for coming when you call him to keep walking along. If he is persistent, you have to take his attention back to the walk and away from the thing with all distractions.  Keep the leash short: the length of the leash is an important point to focus on to keep the pup beside you. This sometimes feels negative to humans but the less space to stray away from your side, the easier it is for him to learn to walk next to you.   Keep him at your side: by keeping the leash short still, your pup can move in a direction you don’t want like in front of the back, and tend to sniff and wander around. walking with your pup by your side allows you to control his direction. This will also help to keep the pup from being tangled up with the leash and you. Once he is trained enough you can lend him enough space to let them be. Let him spend time on his own: As for a dog, walks are always a way to relieve themselves. However, sniffing around is a dog’s habit. So call it an “off duty” thing for not ruining the walk for your dog, sometimes keep the leash long enough so that he can sniff around and be happy for doing the things he loves. Notice your pup if he wants to relieve himself, stop walking and increase the leash to explore and do his things. After being done, reward him with praise or treats.  Set a pace: Dogs are naturally curious and want to rush to certain attractions on your walk or move in their favorite spots. Firstly it’s important to choose a perfectly comfortable pace for both of you. Keep the pace at which both of you normally can move together. For instance, If you notice that your dog is not being able to keep a certain pace, or is rushing, stop and let him come back to you and then rebuild the comfortable pace.  Problems you may face with your pet while training and their solutions 1. Act like a tree. Pulling on the leash is the most common reaction of the puppies to the leash, simple standing like a tree can easily solve it and avoid injuries to the dog and yourself.   2. Let your dog approach other dogs but with their owner’s permission first. Firstly getting permission from the other dog owners can be a relief that their dogs are as friendly as yours. Sometimes the other dogs may have some illness or have been through a recent surgery or may have some kind of trauma that may result in bad interaction.  3. Barking at other dogs. One of the commonest problems faced due to lack of brain stimulation and exercise. Trick training and treat giving with some fetch, running, and swimming along with frequent and longer sessions of exercise can help storm the socializing skills of the dog.  4. Lunging and barking at moving stimuli. The moving wheels of a car or a fast-running animal like a squirrel can trigger the prey in your dog and trigger him to chase after them. This problem can be solved within seconds by diverting the wants of your dog by giving him some tasty treats or commanding the dog to obey you for instance command him to sit or down.  Conclusion: After the efforts of training your pup, now get ready for a better human-pup relationship with a bold and confident walk with your puppy.

My love-hate relationship with Kylo

By Jhudiel Ando  Among all the animals in the world, dogs are the ones I find the cutest. When I was an 8-year-old kid, I wanted to adopt one. I remember asking my mama for a dog and her response is always, “are you willing to clean a dog’s poop?” or telling us that “You guys are still a baby and dogs have rabies”.  My mom got a lot of excuses for everything I say. I can’t blame her because she’s a mother and Mothers don’t want something bad to happen to their kids. She was too protective of us.   I remember my sister and I went to a friend’s house, they had a lot of puppies. It was my first time holding a puppy and letting them drink milk. As you can see from the photo, I didn’t hold the puppy as happy as others seem because I felt scared and guilty for my mother too.   This photo was uploaded by my sister’s friend on Facebook and my mother has seen it & got mad at it. It was supposed to be a secret that we went out and play with these puppies. I ended up being emotional and defending myself that I was fine after I played with the puppies.   I may find dogs cute, but I’m scared of them. Maybe because growing up, I was already told that dogs are scary because they have rabies. I remember I was walking on the street when I was a kid and I’m having a hard passing the neighbor’s gate because a dog was barking loudly. It was kinda embarrassing because kids were laughing at me since I can’t pass to that gate. Even when I go to my friends’ houses, my friends witnessed how terrified I looked when dogs try to lick my feet. I’ll just stay still in the corner and not try to run since I know they’ll chase me.   Moving forward, it was May 2019 when Kylo came into our lives. We didn’t adopt a dog, but it was given to us by my sister’s workmate. My family was happy and excited about having him except for me. Everything was unexpected. My mother has no objections about it; probably because she’s not hands-on with us anymore since we’re already old.   Kylo is pretty small when we first have him. He is a dachshund. He’s lively and playful. He likes biting, licking, barking, and running. I think my description was funny since most dogs are like that.    Anyway, this dog is too energetic that sometimes I can’t match my energy with him. Even though he’s kinda small, he pulled through the small but terrible kind of vibe since seeing big dogs on the street, he will start a fight with them.   Even though he’s that small, I wasn’t able to hold him. I don’t know I’m just too scared. I barely go down to the living room because of him. Every time I went out or arrived home, I kept on chatting on the family’s group chat saying, “Hold Kylo pls, let me in.” indicating they need to hold the dog first before I enter the house. This kind of set-up lasts for a year. I was also busy with my school so I don’t have time to get to know him and besides, I’m still afraid of him.   However, deep inside I wish to have a good relationship with my dog like what I have seen in the movies. Owners and dogs are clingy with each other. However, there’s a part of me not wanting to be attached to a dog. I have seen Marshmello’s Happier music video and made me cry into tears. I am the type of person who got easily attached and can’t move on quickly. My friend once told me, that my dog doesn’t deserve the small percentage of love & effort I’m giving to him. Dogs don’t have someone else aside from their owner. That slaps me into a realization that why not give me a chance to get to know Kylo more.   Fast forward to the lockdown because of the pandemic, I can’t go out so I’m just at home. So I tried to face my fears and started playing with him. At first, I find it uncomfortable when he’s licking my hand haha maybe because I’m not used to it. As months go by, I started caressing and talking to him every morning. There was a time that he barely touches his dog food on the pot, I started feeding him, and he finishes all the food in the bowl. So my father would assign to me in feeding him. Sometimes it pissed me off because he’s getting too used to it and that makes him a spoiled dog. My relationship with my dog is not like the other people’s stories in that they’re very close. I’m hostile towards my dog, but I like it when every time I enter the house, he’s there waiting for us. I used to hate it but I’m loving it now. I can say the pandemic made us closer together. It’s a blessing in disguise indeed.  When I’m alone in the living room, I talked and shared my problems with him. I know Kylo won’t give me a piece of advice back. I just enjoy having him there makes me feel I’m not alone.  After lockdown, my siblings and I brought Kylo to the park so he could run and play freely there. It was tiring but fun. Hanging out with him in the park feels like I’m still a kid again. Chasing him as if he’s a criminal haha. I also love how he gets thirsty after playing, I find it satisfying seeing him finish the whole cup of water as if he’ll lose his breath. As you can see in the photos, he’s very playful that we can’t get a proper photo together.   Looking back to archived Instagram stories that

My first pet

By: En Ni Hsiao  This story took place about sixteen years ago. I do not know if having a chick as a pet is common in other countries, but in my country, it wasn’t back then. At that time, people often had pets like dogs or cats; for small pets, they had hamsters but no chicks. As I used to watch animal planet all day, the crocodile hunter and his adventures in the jungle were fascinating to me. Then, I became the little young girl, eager to have a pet animal. Although I wanted an exotic pet, something like a tiger or a panda, I would have been happy too if I received a dog or a cat. Who knows that I received a chick. I can still recall how it all happened. We went to an event called San Juan at the school I was attending; it was mid-June. San Juan is a typical event made annually in June-July, where people gather to enjoy delicious food and play games. At that time, my family and I moved to this country for about a year. San Juan was a whole new thing for us; as a kid, amazed by new things, I tried all the food and played all the available games. In my last game, which consisted of choosing a balloon in a pool of balloons, if the balloon had a red flag inside, you would win a prize; if not, you gained nothing but also lost nothing. As someone who had never won anything, I wasn’t expecting to win. I was even less hoping to win a chick. The chance to have an animal at home had come closer, but at first, I was not going to accept it because chicks weren’t on my list of possible pets. But, as soon as the man hosting the game showed me the prizes, I felt heartbroken. The little chicks were dyed in colors, and I wanted to give at least one of them a better life. I chose the pink chick as most girls would do and named it Tata. My parents agreed, and we took Tata home. I had to search for information on how to take care of a chick because I was a newbie to keeping pets, even more chicks. What was I going to feed it? Did it need special care?  Tata adapted fast to its new environment, as most chicks stick to their mother until a certain age and need to sleep under their wings to feel safe. Tata slept on a little box with its plushie. It did look for mom the first night, but it soon ceased. I kept Tata in our backyard and would usually feed it in the morning and afternoon. I usually fed Tata some grains; sometimes, I gave her little treats of fruit and other nuts. Tata would come running towards me whenever she saw me passing by the backyard as if greeting me. When the sun was about to set was the time we played together. I would throw a little ball, and Tata would run after it. Having Tata as a pet made me realize that chicks are very smart. They learn very fast and can also be very daring. Tata once fought the neighbor dog that entered our house when we were having a nap. Tata was also very picky about who to be friends with; no matter the times my uncle fed her strawberries, which were her favorite, Tata did not like my uncle. Tata would only come when my mother or I called her, and in some rare cases, she would go near you if you had something that called her attention. When left alone, Tata would rest under the warming sun and sometimes catch some bugs to snack on. Six months passed by, and Tata grew as I grew. I started to attend school for a longer time and had less time to spend with Tata. Since Tata was pink when we got her, we thought she would indeed someday become a beautiful hen. For me, Tata was coming close to her mature age, so I wanted to find a mate for her. What I didn’t know was that she wasn’t mature yet. The She we thought Tata was, was actually a He. We had a big surprise because I thought Tata would like to be with a rooster, so we got a rooster to make her company. It turned out that they hated each other and fought every so, not nasty fights because Tata was not very aggressive and would often let things go before it got too serious. With my doubt in mind, I took both of them to the vet, coming to know that Tata was a rooster, not a hen. That discovery explained why they did not enjoy each other’s company very much. That made me learn that some roosters don’t have a comb until a certain age, and Tata was still young to reach that age, which made us confuse it with a hen. Our small backyard was not big enough for another hen to join the family. We wanted Tata and Peko to live happy lives as roosters do, so farewell was a must. It was hard for me, especially to let Tata go, but I am glad I made the right choice for both of them back then. Luckily, one of our family friends had a little farm not too far from our home. We sent Tata and Peko there, where they had more space to run and wander and even got to know some real hens. By looking at how they ran through the meadows, I realized that they enjoyed their lives there as mother nature tailored them to do. We often visited Tata and Peko on the weekends, as the farm was only a five-minute drive from home. My first experience of having a pet ended like that. Tata and Peko will always

If you want a great buy that will last longer and can withstand aggressive chewing from your canine, this guide will tell you all you need to know to make the best buy for you and your pup. How do I know which chew toy to buy for my dog? If you need help deciding which toy is best for your dog, we can rectify that. You can choose the best chew toys for your dog by observing its antics and taking note of the following questions: Does your pup love to chew? The size of your dog does not matter; whether it is a miniature or large-sized breed, they all have the tendency to chew on something. Today it could be your shoe. Tomorrow, your couch. I’ve been a victim of both. Before choosing the best dog toy for chewers, you need to determine just how much your dog loves to chew. Does your dog like to bite off large chunks of food or edible toys and end up gulping most of it? If so, you want to get a chew toy that is firm and durable, one that can withstand vigorous chewing and will not break apart. Toys like a rubber or ball chew may be best suited for dedicated chewers. Does your dog like to nibble? This indicates that it is a gentle chewer. Dogs that like to nibble are highly unlikely to destroy toys. They mostly get a kick out of licking, sucking, and gently biting their toys; the best chew toys for them would be rubber chew, edible, stuffed, and ball chew toys. If you have a pup that is just teething, you want to get a toy that is strong enough to withstand its needle-sharp teeth. At the same time, you should pick a toy that clearly indicates that it is safe for puppies. Senior dogs cannot chew with as much gusto as younger dogs. Their gums, teeth, and jaws are aging, and as such, they need a toy that is soft and easy to chew. Fabric and stuffed chew toys are great options. Does your pup love to snuggle and cuddle toys? If you have a dog that loves to snuggle and chew on its favorite blanket, it is mainly because all of its favorite scents are on the material. To replace that, you could get soft chew toys made from plush fabric. Or you could get toys that make soft squeaks; this would capture dogs’ interest and keep them entertained for hours. Chew toys made from soft fabrics are also great companions for your dog, primarily if you work long hours. The familiar scent around the toy greatly comforts them and soothes any separation anxiety they may have. How do I choose the Chew Toys For Dogs? Material If you want your furry baby’s favorite chew toy to last for a long time, then you need to consider the materials used in the making of the product. The durability of your dog’s chew toy depends ultimately on the quality of the material. A common material used in making dog chew toys is rubber. Toys made from rubber are long-lasting, easy to clean and come in a variety of textures, shapes, and colors. They are great for aggressive chewers, active dogs, or teething puppies. Rubber toys are also one of

How To Take Care Of Dogs In Your Home

A dog’s a man’s best friend. It’s no wonder they make the best companion. Whether you are thinking about getting a new puppy or you are a seasoned pet owner, the one thing that we all have in common is that we want to provide our furry babies with the best care available – that’s the only way to take care of your dog. Heck, if we had the power to make sure that they live as long as we do, we’d make that possible with a twirl of a wand.  Sadly, we don’t. What we can do, however, is to make sure that they are well taken care of so that they can remain as healthy and content as possible. I know how exciting it is to pick up a new pup from the breeder or a shelter; it is delightful! This brings me to the question; do you know how to take care of a dog? The real work begins when you bring the dog home. With the right dog care tips, it can be an easy transition for you and your canine. Don’t get me wrong, you will yell, grit your teeth and say “bad dog” a million times. But, when they look up at you with those soulful trusting eyes, as if their entire world revolves around you- which it does – you’d melt into a puddle. Find out all you need to know about caring for your angel with fur in this dog care guide. Feed only the best meals – Feeding A Dog Dog plenty of water! This is an essential tip, and it should be noticed. They’re active and energetic creatures, so they need water available at all times. Always provide a fresh batch of clean drinking water. Another essential tip is the food and water bowl for your dog. Do you know that feeding bowls could cause health problems for your dog? When you use a feeding bowl made of low quality, bacteria hide in the cracks and contaminate the food. This could cause untold illnesses for your pooch. I highly recommend these Dog Feeding Bowls that are bacteria-resistant and safe to use for all breeds. You know how important eating the right food is for you. It’s the exact thing for your dog. High-quality meals that contain all the necessary ingredients for your dog to thrive are the only acceptable diet. If you don’t know where to start, you can find out more about the Best Dog Food here. You don’t want to take any chances When it comes to feeding a dog. When feeding your dog, the general rule of thumb is to do so twice a day. But you can observe your canine’s feeding routine to see how much food it consumes. Be sure not to overfeed it to avoid obesity and other health problems. Get A Reliable Vet – Dog Health Tips A healthy dog is a happy one. To ensure they remain in the best health, you should take your dogs to a trusted local veterinarian for proper checkups and vaccinations. Gut health, coat health, and teeth and gum health are some crucial aspects that a vet can advise. If you notice that your very active dog is unusually sluggish, that’s a telltale sign that something might be wrong. Other symptoms may include; vomiting, stooling, and anxiety. A trip to the vet is highly advised in such cases. Grooming – Dog Maintenance One important tip to providing the best care for your dog is to groom regularly. Your pup’s skin is supers sensitive; you want to ensure that the brush you use in grooming is safe on such delicate skin. The wrong one with sharp bristles can cut the skin and cause injuries and other skin problems. These premium quality grooming brushes would help you avoid that. While your dog may not require a bath daily, you should give them a bath when necessary. I know bathing a dog who absolutely detests water can be quite a chore, but when it comes to caring for your dog, you need to take bath time seriously. Remember to brush your dog’s teeth regularly, and trim those sharp claws. Remember to clean between the toes; fleas and ticks like to burrow down there. Provide Proper Bedding Dogs are territorial by nature. As much as they love to be in your business, they also love privacy. A dog bed is designed in a way that provides comfort for your dog and kills them to sleep. There are Dog Beds for seniors; they specially cater to their fragile joints and provide proper cushioning to prevent discomfort. There are also comforting beds for dogs with anxiety. These beds are designed to feel like a hug. Comforting beds are soft and warm and provide complete relaxation for your dog. I highly recommend these dog beds. Puppy-Proof Your Home Dogs are curious by nature; they get into everything and anything. You want to ensure that you take away any harmful object within their reach. Especially toxic chemicals like cleaning supplies, bug repellants, and others. The general idea is to remove anything that could be destroyed by your renegade canine. Training When ensuring that your dog gets the best care, you must train them. Teach them tricks, how to listen to commands, how to understand your hand signals, etc. Remember to potty train them. It is for your own benefit, trust me. As much as you love your dog, cleaning up the entire house every time they make a mess can and will be exhausting. Especially if you are busy and cannot wait on your dog all the time. Using dog treats when training is one of the most effective ways to get your dog to learn new treats. Now, this doesn’t mean that you should constantly go overboard and feed them treats. Too much could cause weight gain for your pooch. What do want to do is choose treats that contain the dietary nutrition

Have you ever felt like you just needed a dog?

How can a dog express itself? A pure, wonderful, and sincere soul, who in every situation is by our side, supports us, loves us, appreciates us, is loyal to us, and most importantly, gives us confidence and strength to go through anything. They are angels without wings, and I am about to predict a very profound story, with which I will instantly sensitize you. This is Cleo. At first glance, she seems like a normal puppy, but her story is far from being known. Cleo is a 6-year-old husky who wasn’t lucky enough to be from the first part of a family she wanted. 5 years ago, I went to work in a village at a distance of 23 km from Timisoara, where there was a family with a large number of dogs. Every day, working there, I noticed that these dogs had no water, no food, and no living conditions, they were bound and tormented. One day, when I was going to work, I saw the owners take the puppy, my future love, and throw it over the fence with a chain around its neck. Instantly, I left everything I had and went to save her as soon as I could, trying to call the police to announce what was going on. No one helped me, they said it was just a dog.I tried to release her, but being very scared, she was shaking, and it was a fight until I stabilized the situation. I managed to take it, to comfort it, my soul became so full of emotion that I gave up the working day, and I did everything possible to take care of it. There was no transport to the city, I urgently needed a veterinarian, I wanted her to be consulted as soon as possible, to be checked by ticks, mites, and other parasites, to save her from the ordeal she had lived in. I called the taxi, and explained the situation to them, but no one accepted an animal in the car. Finally, I managed to go to the city, thanks to a lady who told me the most beautiful words: “Animals are the angels of the soul, she chose you, child”. In the lady’s car, Cleo began to cry, in pain, in fear that she would receive the same treatment she had with her old family. But I had already promised myself that she would never feel the beating, the chains, or the days in the rain and the torments. On a more Athens examination, my Cleo was not only tied and unchained, it was beaten, bruized, with the right-back limb broken long ago, poorly welded. At the veterinarian, many other problems were observed. At that moment, I knew that she would be all mine, and I would give her peace and happiness. She had a scar on his abdomen, following a brawl, where her entire nipple chain had broken. She was badly sutured, full of ticks, and parasites, had no microchip, never vaccinated, very scared, and anorexic. After the visit to the VET, Cleo made a gesture that melted my heart. I was sitting in front of the cabinet, worried that I didn’t know where to start, and she put her nose on my chest, and she started to sigh. From that moment on, we are inseparable. I introduced her to her new family, where she would never feel the chain again, or days without food.at home,, I already had a shar-pei, Arcan, with which she became inseparable. They’re best friends, they run together, they play, they sleep together, they eat together, and she feels happy. Her fur has changed, she has grown, she is a happy, big, full of energy husky, whom I love with all my heart. If I could express how much these animals mean to me, it would not last me a lifetime. 3 months after Cleo got to the new family, I was pleasantly surprised to find out at the veterinary check-up that she was pregnant. I had two wonderful puppies, a husky with shar-pei, whom I will love all my life with everything I have. If ever, an opportunity or an abandoned puppy, a mocked puppy, do not ignore it, because they will always give you unconditional love and pure respect. This is my story about Cleo. I, a student of veterinary medicine, wish from my heart to see people choose pure and complex souls around them, who by a simple glance are melted and drawn entirely to their purity. When Cleo raises her blue eyes to me, nothing is around me, only the happiness that I was there at the moment of waiting, and that I chose to give him the best and happiest life. There are infinite possibilities to be happy, to feel appreciated and loved, just a little bit away. I hope we all have the opportunity to feel the love these animals give us, and to revisit a news story that has a happy ending. The family that tormented the puppy and the rest of the animals was visited by the animal police along with me. The moment I told them that they would receive the fine and all the dogs would be taken and given for adoption, they started to argue and threaten to pay me, because this is how the animals are kept closed and taught to be evil. In the end, Cleo is happy and beautiful, and she has forgotten the life she lived 5 years ago, a life I don’t wish for any soul on earth, and I wish I could save them all, give them what they deserve. I hope you will have liked my story, and we hear, of course, other adventures of “life as a student in veterinary medicine”, because it is filled with endless stories and experiences.

Potty Training a New Puppy

“Training a puppy is like raising a child. Every single interaction is a training opportunity” — Ian Dunbar. Few things are more exciting in the world now than having a puppy in the house. Puppies have this sweet air of loveliness around them that make them appealing to people. In fact, they have so much caught the public fancy today, and this fancy has earned them the right to proper care and housebreaking. After all, no one is willing to go through the pain of mopping a soiled room in the house simply because their darling puppy went rogue. Hence, it becomes necessary that puppies should be psychologically trained to maintain good hygiene through potty training.   A number of factors must be considered to successfully potty train a new puppy: the most important being the understanding of its psychology and behavioural changes. Other factors include the age of the puppy; its environment, exposure, and one’s level of patience. In order to potty-train a new puppy, the puppy has to be understood and listened to; its behaviour must be studied and taught to adapt to changes in its environment. Because puppies are just like babies, sometimes misbehaving and careless, one needs to exercise great patience in handling them. This patience in potty-training requires using the right methods to keep them clean. If they are trained right, they behave right; if they are trained wrongly, they behave wrongly — that is how their hardwired brains work. Some tips to ensure correct training of a puppy include having a consistent training routine, feeding the puppy a proper diet, and also employing tested-and-trusted methods of training — the use of a crate, puppy pads and, above all, one’s emotional intelligence.  The idea behind using a crate for potty training is that dogs are clean animals and are driven by stimuli to find a cleared space to defecate when they are pressed. The puppy has two basic behavioural patterns that can be used in potty training: one is a possibility not to defecate or urinate in a small place; the other is to ease itself at special known spots. It is simply teaching a pet puppy to adapt to living in a custom location — like a potty or a cage. No puppy will naturally come to love the crate. They are in fact ‘domestic-wild’ animals, and their natural instinct, when pressed to poo, is to go out into the wild. As a result, they could become claustrophobic, fearing the security, when first introduced to them. The initial discomfort from being kept away can result in increased feelings of security and safety after repeated exposure to the crate. Subsequently, long-term crate security may lead to emotional and behavioural drops over time. However, this is only a necessary phase of adaptation to a new environment, and this strange effect eventually fades after some days. Because dogs are naturally alert, they also begin to relate their behaviours  — feeding, irritability, excretion — to the comfort of the crate. It is also important to keep a puppy in only one crate to bring about a change in their psychology as it relates to emptying their bowels. A new puppy that has been kept in a crate, say for about 2-3 months, will learn to treat the crate as a personal haven, and will not want to soil it. This will teach the puppy to learn to use its creativity to call out for attention, either by wincing or hitting its paws on the floor so that it can be helped outside to ease itself. It then becomes important that to make crate training effective, pet keepers must be quick to attend to the needs of the puppy — otherwise, the puppy will be trained to do the reverse of what it is being taught. In addition, the crate size must be moderately large to contain the puppy conveniently. If it is made too big, the puppy might think it would be fine to ease itself at a corner of the crate anytime it feels pressed.  The use of disposable pee pads could also be a close substitute for the crate. To keep a puppy comfortable before disposing of its mess, one can employ the use of moisture absorbent pads which are usually laid flat on the ground. The goal behind this method is to create an indoor bathroom for the puppy to ease itself. For new puppies which have little learning history, this will prove to be a Herculean task for petkeepers. If a puppy’s instinct is going to be trained to use an outdoor bathroom, it must first start cultivating this habit indoors, and that is where pee pads come into play. The choice of pee pads is influenced by their texture, flexibility and ability to hold water. One could opt for tissue papers or towels, but store-bought kinds are most suitable since they are easy to wash and dry after use by the puppy. Some types are scented and the foul smell from faeces is easily washed off after laundry. Because puppies are instinctive to smell, pee pads must be washed immediately before a second or third usage. This will prevent them from being drawn to their mess and will train them to use only a clean pad. This will also help take away the urge in some puppies to feast on their own mess. If pad laundry is left unchecked, this method of potty training will prove to be ineffective. Another duty required to enforce this method is to closely monitor a new puppy. Like newborn babies, its creativity is still in the embryonic stage, and so it might not be able to signal clearly when it needs to empty its bowels. After playing, drinking or eating, it is advisable to place it on a pad 15 minutes after in expectation of the puppy easing itself. Above all, consistency is key, and this needs to be repeated till the puppy learns to give signs

Civil Liabilities of Pet Owners

Disclaimer: How To Educate Dogs The information in this article is for educational purposes only and is never a substitute for competent legal advice. The article contains only general statements of law and is therefore not case-specific. Consult your lawyer if faced with a specific situation. How To Educate Dogs Just as you can be responsible for the destruction caused by a fire . You carelessly left to escalate or for the ripple effect caused by an inciteful post you put up on the internet. You may be liable for any damage your animals commit. How To Educate Dogs under the law, “animal” is defined broadly to include pets. While the focus here is on pets, the information applies to other domestic animals. Control Dog From Harmness To Others If you keep any pets, you have a legal duty of care arising from your ownership to prevent them from causing harm or damage. If you fail to do so, you may be subjected to civil liability. Anyone, who has been harmed or suffered damages, will be able to take civil action against you. This is in line with the principles of the law of torts that make you as the owner liable as an animal cannot possibly be sued or be a defendant in a lawsuit. Five primary criteria inform your legal responsibility for the actions of your pets: awareness, negligence, breach, causation, and damage. Awareness Of Dog Laws • Awareness means the defendant (owner) knows the brutal tendency of the pet. (The court would also hold the defendant’s knowledge to exist. If a person in whose charge the defendant had kept the pet had acquired knowledge of the brutal propensity of the pet. Thus, if the defendant’s wife knew of the dangerous tendency, the plaintiff would be liable). Knowledge About Dog,s Law • Negligence means having knowledge of the harm your animal could do. But ignoring it or not taking measures to prevent it from doing damage. The difference between the meanings of awareness and negligence. In this context is that in negligence, the owner does not just have knowledge of the vicious tendency of the animal but also does not take precautions. 1 Breach means falling below the standard of a reasonable owner (like letting your big dog off its lead next to a group of toddlers). 2 Causation means that the victim or their property would not have suffered harm if not for your negligence. 3 Damage means some loss or harm to the claimant, ranging from personal injury to property damage. If all five of the above criteria, the claimant is entitled to compensation from you. Keepers of pets usually incur liability for pets. “Keeper” here refers to the owner, the head of the household if the owner is a minor, a person in whose temporary custody the pet is, and a previous owner who has lost ownership or possession of the pet before there is a new keeper. So know that if your child lets something loose in the woods, it’s still your responsibility so long as the pet has not got a new keeper. Diffrent Characteristics Of Animals To help determine liability, the law makes an essential distinction between dangerous and non-dangerous animals, exactly the classification we have known since kindergarten. Non-dangerous species are those that are, of course, not dangerous. These are domestic and usually tame animals but may occasionally attack humans and cause them harm. They comprise pets like dogs, cats, rabbits, livestock such as cattle, sheep, goats, horses, et cetera. Liability for a pet (and other non-dangerous animals) only arises if the damage is of a kind that the particular animal, if unrestrained, is likely to cause. And if such damage is expected to be severe, the victim will have sufficient claim. Furthermore, the claimant must prove that this likelihood is due to the characteristics of the animal. That are ordinarily unusual for its species or which are only familiar in the species at specific times. Consider, for instance, the risk of a huge and aggressive dog biting someone or the risks associated with a dog with rabies. This is an unusual character and could make a successful claim. However, if your ordinary cat scratches someone, they are unlikely to have a good claim against you. Because a scratch from a cat is not an unusual characteristic of cats. It is also not restricted to rare occasions. Difficulties To Educate And Train Dog Further, if it was impossible to stop your dog from biting someone . You are still responsible for the injuries the dog caused. In the same vein, you are deemed responsible if a person trips and injures himself . For if an animal’s acts were the direct cause of an injury, the owner could be held responsible. There need not be direct or physical contact between the victim and the animal. But as it is with every claim in life. Most importantly, for your relief as a pet owner, there are defense to claims of liability for your pet’s actions. Defense to liability claims include: contributory negligence, volenti, and trespass. • Contributory negligence is where the harm suffered was partly a result of the claimant’s own fault or negligence. This includes provoking the animal, trying to scare it, not taking basic, reasonable precautions, etc. Imagine someone not familiar to your dog putting his fingers down the dog’s throat. • Volenti means voluntary assumption of risk. It is a situation where the victim voluntarily assumed or put himself in the risk of harm or damage. This defense does not apply where the risk is ordinarily incidental to a person’s employment. You cannot, for instance, dismiss a claim from a zoo keeper who a dog bit. For trespass, your defense will succeed if the animal was reasonably kept for protection from trespassers. So if a dog kept for the purpose of barking at trespassers to alert you to their presence bites a burglar. You will have a defense. If
